Christopher McKenna

President/CEO, CAP COM Federal Credit Union

Christopher McKenna was named President/CEO of CAP COM in 2019, after serving on the credit union's leadership team since 2010.

Previously, he was Executive Vice President of CAP COM and prior to that, Chief Lending Officer of the credit union's subsidiary, Homeowners Advantage (a business co-founded by Chris and acquired by CAP COM).

Chris has been active in the financial service and mortgage industry since 1990. Under his leadership, the subsidiary greatly expanded its strategic partners and statewide referral sources. Also under his leadership, CAP COM's residential mortgage volume soared to become the fourth largest provider in the region. Since inception the group has originated more than $2.5 billion in mortgages and has a servicing portfolio of $1.5 billion.

Chris's passionate advocacy for members and unrelenting focus on service are hallmarks of his leadership. His commitment to the member experience is central to every credit union initiative: from technological innovations, to product and service development, across workplace culture, and community outreach through the CAP COM Cares Foundation.

Previous board and committee posts include the Freddie Mac Credit Union Advisory Board, Radian Credit Union Advisory Council, and Mortgage Bankers Association of New York Board of Directors. Chris is the Incoming Chair of the CAP COM Cares Foundation Board of Directors. Chris holds a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Business from the State University of New York at Albany.

A federally registered Mortgage Loan Officer, Chris has extensive experience in originating conventional and government loans including FHA, VA and USDA. Chris traces his people-first orientation to 20 years of experience helping homebuyers fulfill their dreams of homeownership.
