Our history

Sixty years of growth

CAP COM History

CAP COM was first established in 1953 as the Capital District Telephone Employees Federal Credit Union for the New York Telephone Company in Albany, N.Y. Back then, all banking needs were handled by one person out of one desk drawer.

More than six decades later, CAP COM has grown to more than $1.5 billion in assets and its subsidiaries service an additional $1 billion in assets. The Credit Union, with locations throughout the Capital Region, has more than 116,000 members and more than 700 companies offer CAP COM membership as a free employee benefit to their staff.
