ALBANY – CAP COM Federal Credit Union and the Colonie Youth Center are partnering for the first time to host the 12th Annual Crossing 5K Challenge and Kids Runs at the Colonie Crossings on Sunday, September 27.
The event is perfect for the whole family with a quarter-mile run for kids as well as one-mile chip-timed competitive race. The flat course is ideal for runners of all ages and skill levels. A Kids Fun Zone will provide activities and entertainment for kids before and after their races.
"This event is a great way to model healthy behaviors for families and instill in them a life-long love of running," said Foundation Administrator Amanda Goyer. "This partnership with Colonie Youth Center to raise money for children and families in our community who need our support falls squarely in line with our credit union philosophy of people helping people."
The 5K Challenge Run/Walk will start at 10 a.m., followed by the kids' quarter-mile fun run and 1-mile competitive run at 10:45 a.m. The race will begin at the Ciccotti Center.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the CAP COM Cares Foundation's mission to nurture the community through health and wellness programs, educational initiatives and services that support children and underprivileged families as well as CYC's scholarship assistance program which helps provide Ciccotti Center opportunities, school-age childcare programs and counseling services to all families.
