ALBANY, NY – CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, will partner with Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) to adopt 200 senior “angels” through CAP COM’s Holiday Adopt-an-Angel program.

The collaborative program provides gifts to seniors who are part of CSSC’s Umbrella of Colonie. Umbrella provides handymen services to fix even the smallest repairs. For larger jobs, Umbrella offers discounts to local contractors to make home-repairs affordable for seniors, many of whom struggle with heating and electric bills throughout the winter months.

Once CAP COM’s Adopt-an-Angel giving tree was unveiled, staff members quickly stripped every one of the 200 angel ornaments from it, each ornament containing the wish list of one senior. CAP COM employees purchased and wrapped their gifts. More Foundation volunteers will deliver the gifts door-to-door.

“We are proud to work alongside business partners like Colonie Senior Service Centers who are committed to making a difference in the Capital Region,” said CAP COM’s President & CEO Paula Stopera. “Together, we are able to bring the magic of the holiday season alive both for seniors in our community and for those CAP COM employees who were able to be part of the program.”

“There will be many smiles and much laughter as the seniors accept these holiday gifts. The generosity shown by CAP COM’s volunteers will make a tremendous impact. The Holiday Adopt-an-Angel program is just one example of how the credit union partners with organizations in the Capital Region and so generously gives back to the community we all serve,” said Edward Neary, Executive Director, CSSC.
