Thanksgiving provides a special opportunity to recognize and appreciate the gifts we’ve been given, and to share those blessings with others.
Since 2003, the CAP COM Cares Foundation has organized the assembly and delivery of Thanksgiving Baskets to more than 2,000 families in need throughout the region.
The Foundation helps coordinate volunteer staff members to assemble the bags and supplies, which are delivered during the week of Thanksgiving.
In partnership with Hannaford Supermarkets, the Foundation staff and volunteers assemble baskets that contain all the ingredients to serve a healthy and delicious, traditional Thanksgiving dinner and then deliver the baskets to area organizations including:
- Commission on Economic Opportunity
- Franklin Community Center
- Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County
- Marillac Family Shelter
- Shelters of Saratoga
- St. Catherine’s Center for Children
- St. Paul Center for Women and Children
- Visiting Nurses Association
- Watervliet Head Start
