CAP COM Federal Credit Union and the CAP COM Cares Foundation are especially active around the winter holidays, working closely with our partners to initiate and support a variety of programs throughout the season, including:
In partnership with Colonie Senior Service Centers, the Foundation adopts more than 200 seniors through CAP COM’s Holiday Adopt-an-Angel program. CAP COM staff and volunteers select one or more angels ornaments from the giving tree, then purchase, wrap and deliver presents based on the special needs and requests of each senior.
Marillac Family Shelter Holidays
Each year the Foundation coordinates a number of programs to bring holiday joy to the families and children at Marillac Family Shelter in Albany, from on-site visits with Santa Claus, where each child receives a gift, to strolling carolers and distribution of holiday meal baskets to bring in the season and the New Year.
Around the holidays, departments at CAP COM adopt a local family, shopping for, wrapping and delivering gifts for each family member based on their wish list or the suggestions of Foundation partner organizations.
The Foundation partners each year with the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) to bring the holiday experience to families in Rensselaer County, including visits with Santa Claus, gifts of books and plush animals for the children, and storytime led by CAP COM volunteers.
