CAP COM Cares Foundation Awards $100,000 among 10 Capital Region Nonprofits

CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, are pleased to announce the winners of the CAP COM Cares Foundation Infrastructure Grant Initiative. $100,000 will be awarded to 10 Capital Region nonprofit organizations at a special luncheon later this year.  

The Infrastructure Initiative program formalizes the CAP COM Cares Foundation’s commitment to be a strong community partner and support projects that nonprofits often find difficult to fund. Some examples of projects that inspired the initiative include technology, HVAC and security upgrades as well as a variety of physical improvements such as a new roof, ramps and grounds improvement. These projects are vital for organizations to serve their constituents but can be delayed or unaddressed due to a lack of resources.

After seeing the wonderful success of the program’s inaugural year in 2021, the CAP COM Cares Foundation Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve this program for 2022 and help even more nonprofits in our community. $100,000 will re-enter the Community this week, supporting 10 organizations with $10,000 each.

The beneficiaries of the Foundation’s Initiative Program include:

BlueLight Development Group, Albany County
Eden’s Rose Foundation, Albany County
Foster Can Inc., Rensselaer County
Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County, Rensselaer County
SAFE Inc. of Schenectady, Schenectady County
Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County
St. Catherine’s Center for Children, Albany County
To Life!, Albany County
Women’s Employment Resource Center (WERC), Albany County

“When we talk to new or longstanding nonprofit partners, we always ask them ‘what do you need?’. It was very clear that funding for infrastructure projects is a gap for so many of them,” stated Becky Daniels, Director of Community Engagement, CAP COM Federal Credit Union. “We hope to shine a light on this issue so that additional community donors will consider supporting similar projects as to help our nonprofits become even more productive and better able to serve their clients and our community.”
