Overdraft Options

When life gets busy, monitoring your checking account balance may not top your to-do list. Unfortunately, insufficient funds can be expensive, leading to unfulfilled payments and costly merchant and returned-check fees. To avoid the hassle altogether, CAP COM offers three overdraft options to protect your account.

Which option is best for you?


1 Automatic Transfer.

Set up an Automatic Transfer from your Savings Account to your Checking Account if it is about to be overdrawn ($2 fee).

TIP: Set up a low balance text alert to your phone. You can then transfer the funds yourself via mobile or online banking to avoid the $2 fee.1


2 Checking Line of Credit.

Funds are deposited automatically into your Checking Account, to cover a check, debit, or preauthorized withdrawal (ACH). This variable-rate loan2 offers an attractive alternative to overdraft and transfer fees. View current rates.

TIP: Pay down your Line of Credit as soon as you can to avoid carrying a balance each month.


3 Courtesy Pay.

New members in good standing3 automatically receive this benefit after 60 days. Courtesy Pay covers up to $500 in overdraft checks and preauthorized withdrawals (ACH) from your Checking Account ($100 for Young Adult Checking Accounts). Depending on the overdraft amount, fees range from $10 to $30 – typically less than merchant fees for insufficient funds. Opt out at any time. 3. Coverage includes fees. To be eligible for Courtesy Pay, a new member with a share or certificate account must deposit at least $100 in the first 60 days after the account-opening date. The Courtesy Pay coverage limit is $500. For Young Adult Checking Account holders (ages 18-25), the limit is $100, credit-qualified. Eligibility restrictions apply. CAP COM retains the right to decline Courtesy Pay transactions.
