Sanje Harris-Richardson first joined CAP COM so she could start building credit and saving for a car. “It felt like home. I liked the vibe,” she said. “I thought: I really want to be part of this.”
One of last year’s Weidner “Ed” Davis Scholarship winners, Sanje is in her Junior Year at University of Buffalo – School of Nursing. She relies on mobile banking and direct deposit while she is in school and she said that budgeting and planning know-how will help keep her from accumulating too much debt after college.
In the upcoming year, Sanje will act as a Residential Advisor for incoming freshman. Here are her top tips for students who are college-bound:
- Find the Financial Aid Office first. Make sure you have your aid in order before you even unpack.
- Surround yourself with people who will push you to do better.
- Learn how to manage and prioritize your time.
- Don’t wait until the last minute to do your laundry.
CAP COM offers a series of workshops for College Bound students. The College Admissions Workshop will be held on October 7. Click here for more information.
